Today there was sun. woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Five minutes of sun and I am burnt (SS).

Next time we see sun she should wear sun cream. Though to be fair, we hadnt got much of a reason to expect sun. The sun lasted around 5 hours. Woo!

Today we went to see a big building called Schönbrunn Palace. It is huuuuuuuuuuge. Apparently (according to SB) it has thoooousands of rooms. (1441?). Were not too up to date on our Vienna history so we have wikipedia-ed it and still remain a bit confused. Did people live in all those rooms? How would you clean it? Apparently Austria had a Royal family till 1918, even so the building is a little huge for one family! We walked to Gloriette which gives a view of the entirity of Vienna, but the view is a little obscured by a very big building. The ponds have ducks and little ramps/ stairs for the ducks to get out/into them. There is a 'roman ruins' in the gardens which we thought was in pretty good condition until we discovered it had actually been built about a hundred years ago just to look like a ruin, which seems a bit like cheating really.

Then we went to a market, which we managed to find without a map (which we had lost somewhere). Its the oldest market in Vienna. There were all sorts of things for sale and I went over to a box and a huuuuuge fish jumped out at me!! (SS). We had a very odd lunch and sadly couldnt get the potato pancakes we wanted 😞

Then we went to see a big cathedral which was annoyingly in the middle of renovation work so they had covered it in a photo of what it would look like. Then SB began her daily postcard writing to the woooooooooooooorld. (How does she know so many people?!?). I sat and wrote my one and a half postcards (sometimes I write two!), and got bored of writing them. I (SB) think she really should learn the art of postcard writing and have been trying (unsuccessfully) to convince her that it IS in fact fun. Ha.

Now we are washing our clothes, which is a happy moment, since if we did not do this, we would smell. Off to Salzburg tomorrow to see the Sound of Music!
