Day 22. 8665Km.
3348Km in four days. I think I'll stay here for 2 days and have a look around. I would have stayed in Thunder Bay for an extra day but it was raining this morning. One thing I forgot in my babbling yesterday. I know why there is a shortage of butterflies. They are all suicidal. I can't tell you how many have flown directly in front of my truck. Them and dragon flies. Dozens.
I left Thunder Bay under cloudy skies. I heard it raining in the night and early in the morning before I got up but fortunately it had stopped for a bit during the time I wanted to pack up and leave. Much like the day I left New Brunswick it rained off and on but nothing too heavy. By the time I was getting close to Winterpig the skies were brightening up and it has completely cleared now.
I must eat some words from yesterday's entry because today I saw actual road work being done. Widening and resurfacing for miles on the Trans Canada Highway near the Manitoba border.
Again it was about 11am when I got on the road. My only stop was
fresh rock cutfresh rock cutfresh rock cut

several places the rock had to be blasted back to make room for wider roads
for fuel and a few groceries in Dryden.
I finally realizes what all the hopper type tractor trailers I started seeing in Quebec are. Pulp trailers. I have seen several saw mills and they must truck the scrap in the form of pulp to either paper product plants or digester power plants.
Being on the eastern edge of the Central time zone adds what feels like a full hour to the day. It was well after 10:30pm and there was still lots of light tonight.
After I got set up for the night I Googled pubs in Winnipeg, found a blues Hotel and took the bike into the downtown. WOW! I completely forgot about the episodes of 'To Serve and Protect' that were shot with the Winnipeg RCMP. The hotel was closed so I rode to the touristy area where the two rivers meet and found a Asian restaurant. I ordered the green curry chicken dish which is my favorite Thai dish. It was perfectly eatable but crap compared to what I can get at home. I should know better. I'm in beef country now... which reminds me. My big Diesel truck is a girls truck up here. It's like driving in Texas. I can already see the flatness too.
