One of the building at The Forks has many of these in the floor but I don't think it was the train station because of where it is. Day 23. Tuesday.
When the Queen of England has the TP roll changed does she want it over the top or under? Inquiring minds want to know.
Between the weed wacker and the dog barking this morning I did not sleep as long as I could have. Why do people think that just because it's a small dog it is OK to let it bark. They would'nt get away with it if it was a real dog.
I started the day with a mani and pedi meaning I got out the clippers. Despite the fact I don't drink milk my nails still grow as fast as my hair. Women hate that. TMI?
Next was to polish up the bike. My friend Kalvin who has been riding for years showed me this Harley spray cleaner once and it was amazing. One time when I was in Royal Distributing in Guelph I was looking through their cleaners and saw Miracle Wash. It's a waterless spray foam and it works great. It lifts bugs well too.
I talked to my brother this morning and he made the comment that last time he was in Winnipeg it always seemed windier than it should be. That's about right I'd say.
I rode back into the city today and went to The Forks. I wondered around the stores and had some pancakes for brunch. It was three o'clock but it was the first thing I had to eat so I'll call it brunch. I then crossed the bridge to old St. Boniface or the French Quarter. Not much to see here although I did get the impression there is better money in this area. Downtown Winnipeg is almost all one way streets which is bad enough to a stranger but many of them you can't make turns from during business hours. You end up going blocks out of the way before you can turn and head back to where you wanted to be.
There are 3 free bus routes designed for tourists in the core of the city and they run about every 15 minutes. They go to the places tourists might be interested in like the Millenniun Library, concert hall, shopping centre, art gallery, Union Station and of course The Forks. An interesting idea but what a huge expense on a city that appears to have an employment problem. I guess that's federal money though.
Once I got back to camp the awning on the trailer was flapping around so hard in the wind I decided I'd better roll it up before it damaged itself. There's that wind I was talking about earlier. Even in the night when most places are dead calm I could hear it. Maybe that's common on the prairies? I'll know soon enough.
I threw a load of laundry into the machine and kicked back for a while. I'm tired. Maybe too much driving or not enough sleep. Maybe just the time change?
I drove into Ile-des-Chenes and washed the mud from the Ontario Northern Roads Program off the truck, then into Winnipeg for a mop and bucket to do the same to the trailer so now I've cleaned everything today. The winds have died down so I was able to open the awning again to wash behind the brackets too. Finally put some hot dogs on the BBQ about 22:30 as it was getting dusk. I have exactly one picture to remember Winnipeg. A picture of a floor.
