Yesterday was hard to be away from home because Meredith, my sister, got engaged! The news is so exciting, yet I really wish I could be in the US so I could feel more included in the upcoming months. At least I have e-mail.
Today was a really great day though, so that made up for a sad day yesterday. I visited a new church called Iglesia Cristiana Evangélica Betania. This is another Plymouth Brethren church so I felt at home, sort of. The congregation was very friendly. The man behind me even whispered the hymn number when I didn’t catch the number. I even recognized two of the hymns, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty” and “Blessed Redeemer” but of course they were in Spanish. I really felt like an America though when I had to share a hymnal with a woman who came up to my elbow. Thanks Dad for my height. I look all the men in the eye. Maybe this is why I haven’t had too many problems at night!
After church and lunch I explored Seville with a girl in my program that goes to Wheaton College! She knows a lot of my friends
since she is on the basketball team. She is injured so she is missing the season, so it’s a perfect opportunity for her to go to Spain.
Today was another gorgeous day. The weather is warming up to the mid 60’s so it’s almost in the 50’s when I’m inside the house. Yes, without heat all the houses are freezing. Two things I will never take for granted again: heat and a warm shower. All is good though in Seville!
