Later this was full of children playing fútbol.
Today I finally made my way to La Boca. The day began having the most stereotypical porteño conversation possible. I ran into someone I'd met at a bar during my first weeks there. I got the typical argentine greeting and then when I asked him how he had been he said. "Good, I just got a new nose and am coming from the shrink so I feel great." Nose jobs and shrinks are everywhere here.
After the conversation I hopped on a bus to Boca and after a few problems managed to stumble across la bombanera- which is the stadium for the Boca Juniors. After that it was off to caminito and the surrounding area, which is the buildings painted in bright colors. It was very touristy as expected, but was still pretty. It was full of Maradona impersonators and tango dancers.
La Boca also has one of the best Italian restaurants so that was the lunch stop. There's not a whole lot else to say. You might not be able to tell from the pictures but the area is quite poor and supposed to be one of the more dangerous areas. I talked with a girl from Sweden last night

The Boca Juniors stadium. It's entirely standing room with a capacity of 40,000 or so. It was where the superclasico was played recently and was said to have 70,000 for that game.
after attending spanglish who was telling me about how Boca chose it's colors by saying the would take on the colors of the next ship that came in, which was Swedish. She said that they treated her like a queen when they found out that she was Swedish.
Anyway, look at the pictures, I should have more up on Sunday or so, because I have a ticket to Uruguay Saturday and should be attending an asado Saturday night.
