Easter eggs
Austin found easter eggs for sale in the store. Pre dyed. From Jon, Steph, Lily, and Austin
We are now in Delphi, site of the oracle of Apollo answered worldly questions. It sits high among the mountains with stunning views into the valley. Lily found the mountain winding roads to be a purging experience, yet not ridding of her spirit. We have gone from sea level to the 3000’ heights of Delphi.
On the way to this site, we traveled to Marathon, the home of the original starting point of the marathon. This is also where the Greeks fought the Persians. A soldier ran the 26+ miles from Marathon to Athens to announce the status of the war, prior to falling dead.
The waiter cringed when we ordered a “Gyro” which is suppose to be pronounced “Hero”. It still tasted very good - meat, lettuce, veggies, and French fries rolled up in a pita. Lily loves the onions, olives, and feya.
We rented a Very compact - car from Athens to get us here. It is the size of Lily's bathroom at home. Our surprise was the flat tire that we found on it this morning (now fixed). Driving in Greece is an amusement ride unto itself. Good
Mini Car
Austin and Lily with our rental. thing for Jon's stick shift and Boston driving as a training ground when he was young.
Our last observation is that Greek culture is to smoke cigarettes regularly, despite the warning on packs in big letters simply and clearly stating "smoking kills".
On to Olympus and Volas tomorrow.
