BRIGHT and Early!!! Up and at 'em!!! We had to leave Metrogate by 800a. to go to Stonehenge and then onto Bath. Well, took a coach (bus) and got to Stonehenge at about 10 am or so! However, it was bitterly cold outside. And it was a piercing cold, because it was wet and very windy and it went right through all my clothes! It was not fun, but I got to see those odd stones arranged in a circle! It is kind of funny, because they really have no clue who put them there, why they did and how they did it, but the tour guide kept trying to explain what the experts think. However, even though she spoke with suck authority and obviously knows more about the subject than I, we still don't really know anything. And unfortunately my guess is about as good as hers! Especially after listening to her!!! but it was really cool to see. It felt surreal because, you see these stones on TV and watch shows about Stonehenge on the history channel and when you are watching those programs they feel so far away, but then you get there and you see them. And
they still feel hundreds of miles away, when they are only a few feet away. It was good experience to see! I am glad I went, even though it was so cold!!! HAHAHA!
Then we took another hour and a half bus ride to Bath! There we were able to get out and stretch our legs and hear all about the Roman Baths. They were discovered because a king in the area had a son who had leprosy. The prince was sent away because of this defect and stumbled upon some pigs rolling in some bubbling mud. When the pigs got out of the mud they were cleaned of any defects on their skin. The prince thought that since it worked for the pigs, maybe it would work for him too and it did! Then, later when the Romans came to the area, they made this into their infamous Baths. It was really cool to see. The city was neat as well. The city is built in Gregorian architecture, after all the King George's. All the buildings by law have to be made out of the same stone that comes from a nearby quarry!!! There are about 90,000 inhabitants.
This is also where Jane Austen did a lot of her writing. And this was where they filmed Vanity Fair, along with other movies of that genre. I made a friend with Erin from Marist for the day and her and I walked around, ate chocolate and ended up in a pub. In Bath, on that day, there was a big rugby game to be played, and we were at one of the pubs the fans go to before the game. So that was pretty cool. but the coolest thing of all was the Roman Bath Museum. most of the architecture was the same as it was in roman days, although with newer stones. And the baths were very warm. there was so much steam coming up from the earth!!! It was really beautiful to see! I also made a wish at the wishing well...we'll see if it comes true!!!
We got back to Metrogate and I went to eat with Jacqueline, Laurie, Amy and Trae. We went to Wagamama's and I really didn't enjoy the food...oh well, then we went to this quaint hidden gelato place for really good gelato for really cheap!!! It was a lot of
fun...but I don't gauge that they are my kind of people. the entire night I felt like the odd man out, which a feeling, I am unfortunately getting used to here in London!
