On the ferry goin along the grand canal and the ambulance goes past, a boat! there are no cars or motor bikes at all in Venice all boats! crazy shit hey!
It's not a very big city and i have all day, so i'll just tour about, no need for a map! Over this bridge, along that canal, through this skinny walkway, over that bridge, into this chrch (mainly to warm up), over another litle bridge & along the canal for a bit. Wait a minute this is all lookin a bit familiar, i'm back to where i bloody started from! Venice is a labyrinth of canals & walkways, it's crazy!
I got into Venice & it was bloody cold. I got to the hostel which was actually a hotel doin shared rooms. so i was in a 2 bed hotel room and the first night i shared with an Argentinean guy.
The next day i bused it into Venice and it was pretty impressive a labyrinth of canals comin off the grand canal. I walked around, went to a church, watched a few gondolas, sat in on a service in another church (mainly to warm my frozen hands),
went to saint marco pier, had a gelato, walked around the piazza s.marco, another church, an instrument exerbition, then to pont de rialto (the lovers bridge) and then back to the hotel for a beer and a top pizza.
That night i had another aussie lad Andy from MEL. in the room, so we chatted shit over a beer for a while. then the next day i packed my shit and we went into Venice in the snow! i got my cruise ticket set and then we got the ferry up the grand canal to the Pont de rialto & had a coffee & a donut (cheers Andy).
So i said goodbye to Andy & trekked it to the harbor through the bloody snow (old cardboard box on me head n all)
next i cruise to Greece.
