Last Sunday morning we flew from Amsterdam to Warsaw. This is where we picked up the car, and where we realized the one issue with my planning…no GPS. It took us a good 15 minutes just to find our way out of the parking garage. I’m going to blame the Polish signs though, because when you have arrows pointing towards ‘do not enter’ signs, there’s really something wrong.
With Kevin driving and Josh navigating, we got to see the nice bridges Warsaw has to offer as we crossed them back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
Eventually we did get to our hotel, got cleaned up and had a couple beers at the bar. After grabbing some sausage and dumplings at a small café, we wandered around Stare Miasto (Old Town). It’s the part of the city that has been reconstructed from the rumble of the war. It’s really a beautiful area and we did our best not to be ugly Americans. We succeeded until about dusk. It was at that time that we had already had a Jameson shot or three too many.
The sequence of events gets fuzzy for me, but I believe it went something like
this:
• I try to pay for the bar tab with a credit card and they don’t take credit cards
• I start to get blasted for being cheap
• Credit card thing works out, but this is going to be an ongoing joke
• Billy calls Matty, does nothing but whistle in different tones, says “You know what I said kid!” and hangs up.
• Josh raids his first grocery store for sausages
• Local man tries to talk to Billy in the bar and he can’t understand him even though he’s speaking English
• I am trying to explain to waitress how to make an Irish Car Bomb; she is not amused. (It’s a pint of Jameson, a shot of Guinness…)
• The guys decide it would be fun to try to talk me into leaving town that night for Lithuania…but to load up on Vodka for the drive (which of course they had no intention of doing)
• We all go into grocery store for more sausages, or so I am told.
• I lose my credit cards
• Nobody seems to think my credit card loss is a big deal
• The guys give me my
credit cards back
• Kevin and Josh argue about the way home, I don’t remember who won, but we walked about 10 blocks even though we were only one block away.
• I call the girls and bitch about the guys
• The call to the girls earns me more abuse the next day.
• Life - 1, Billy - 0; Guys - 1, Kevin - 0
That was our Warsaw experience…and even though I know we were those obnoxious Americans, I’m pretty sure we had a great time. The next day the road trip started…more on that later. I will also try to fix the pictures on the Amsterdam blog as well...I know they show up tiny for some reason.

Buildings
Those buildings are so close together they look like they are built from the inside out. Uummmm your friends sound kind of fun. What the hell are sausages?? Are they literally "sausages" if so, is that all you guys ate???
