I have now been in Montanita for 2 weeks and although I have not seen the sun often it is making an apparance on a more regular basis. I have the burns to proove it. It never fails to amaze me how I can miss the same spot repeatedly with sunscreen! I am slowly starting to pick up more spanish but not as quickly as I seem to be picking up "Aussie English" from my new mate. Georgie is from the South of Australia and is travelling for a year. In total she will be in Montinati for 2 weeks and will be missed when she leaves in a couple of days. All I can say that there has been lots of laughs and a few situations that would have given Gran and Mrs. Myrtle a run for their money! Guess I am just going to have to go visit her once we are both done our travels. In the meantime, let me pass along a bit of advice. If some says that you bike rack is hanging out.....please, pull up your shorts!!!

The surfing is also coming along slowly but I can see improvements each time I am out....even if it is only in my confidence. There really hasn´t been any waves but there is enough for me to learn on. If I was a more experienced surfer I would have been disappointed. Atleast with the smaller waves I don´t look nearly as beat up as I would with the larger ones. A south swell is on it´s way though and it promises to bring both the waves, sun and warmth.

In the meantime I am getting to know a few of the locals and those who have become locals a little better. Once you start asking it is amazing at some of the opportunities that you can find here. Yesterday, a few of the guests went on a snorkling trip around the point. When they got back their guide cooked up the fish they caught and we all got to try some. It was great! I finally tried cerviche. For those who don´t know what this is, it is raw fish marinated in lime juice (and a bunch of other ingredients) The lime juice actually cooks the fish in about ten minutes. I have to say that it was very impressive and it couldn´t have been any fresher. I think that one of these days I will go on one of these little tours as I was told that the marine life was amazing.

On the weekend the streets here (ok, the main street...one of two) comes alive with buskers and pounding music. It really is a lot of fun and quite amazing for people watching. A whole night on the town with dinner and several cocktails can be achieved for $20. It is a great deal. As fun as it is though, it is nice to be at the other end of the beach where it is quieter.

Anyway, things are going well and I am really enjoying my time. I hope everyone at home is doing well too. I know that you all want to see photos so my goal this week is to take some and to figure out how to post them. Talk to you soon!

Wish we were there
I am jealous! Wish we were there, dad would love the snorkeling and I'm sure would have many laughs especially watching for bicycle racks! So many new experiences, even the most simple thing is an adventure. We are not getting sunburned but it is a bit nippy on the nose some mornings. Friday brought a snow storm to parts of NS, Greenwood had 60 cm of snow. Nanny Jean was 18 hours without power other areas were much longer. Keep sending the blogs, I call and read them to Nanny Jean and on Saturday she was wanting to know if there was anything new from you. Will call her tonight and keep her up to date. Love Yah!
