Rose Gardens
I spent most of the day exploring some of the Parks in Palermo. I started in the Jardin Botanico and made my way through to Plaza Holanda.
This time I spent a bit longer in the Botanical Gardens, and observed a large number of cats roaming around and felt drops of water falling from the trees. On my way out I bumped into a woman with her two children and she asked me for a light. I tried to explain I didn´t smoke and started to walk away when I think she asked me for money. I kept walking so she shouted at me. I think I heard ´boludo´, which is a way of saying stupid (it literally means ´man with big balls´).
Feeling more or less indifferent I walked to the Rose Gardens near Holland Square where I spent the day learning Spanish and updating my journal, as well as watching people drinking their mate and relaxing in this amazing park. I also purchased a slice of meat in bread crumbs with a bread roll, which might have been the cause of my slight stomach upset later.
The nicest part of the park was the island in the middle of

the lake with a number of small bridges leading to it. As I was sitting down admiring the view a tiny parrot caught my attention, feeding amongst the pigeons.
I was quite chilled out when I arrived back to the hostel, and managed to make friends with the two Brazilian guys. They shared their boiled artichokes and wine with me, and I gave antiseptic cream to one of them for his stitched up forehead, the result of a bicycle accident a few hours before the start of their holiday. We had a nice chat about travelling in Eastern Europe and South America, and they gave me a few tips about where to go in Brazil. The cities Natal, Forteleza, Salvador and Florianopolis meant to be beautiful. Also in Florianopolis the girls are said to be amazingly pretty, but in Goiania they are both pretty and easy.... One of the guys invited me to go to the carnival in Salvador with him in February, and also asked me to go with them to an electronic music festival in the evening. I´m not really into techno so I stayed at the hostel chatting to Jon instead.....
