Lucky Elk !!
This Elk is very lucky that he was nowhere near the road !! Tim and I decided last night, as we were laying bed, that we wanted to have what we described as a "lazy day". We've been going strong for 12 days and we just wanted to "do nothing" for a day. I found a great KOA Campground in Walport, Oregon that is right on the coast so we decided to head out in the morning and spend the day and night there. Tim let us girls sleep late this morning while he packed up everything and started driving around 9:30 a.m. It felt really good to sleep-in and not be stressed about where to take a bath and what everyone was going to eat for breakfast. It still seems so weird that we can sleep and ride down the road at the same time and it's kinda bumpy too, but it's cool ! Sometime along the drive Kayla got up and was sitting up front with Tim as Emmy and I continued to rest. I could hear them talking about their caving experience the day before and it was so heart-warming to listen to the two of them bonding. You could hear the excitement in their voices as they recalled every detail
Tree Farm in Oregon !
We passed tons of tree farms on our trip through Oregon ! of their caving experience which is pretty good considering that neither of them are morning people. As I started to doze off I heard Tim yelling "I hate you ! I hate you ! You are so stupid !". My first thought was "Uh ! Oh !, she finally pushed him over the edge and he's cracked !!! She knows better than to mess with Tim before 12:00 especially if he's hasn't had any coffee ! I jumped up so fast I hit my head on the light fixture but I had to get up front and see what the heck was going on ! Well, believe it or not, Kayla was innocent this time. You guessed it, Tim was having another one of his one sided discussions with Magellan !! I didn't even say a word, I just shook my head and went back to my warm and cozy bed. Tim continued down Highway 34 West towards Walport driving like a pro. He's really gotten the hang of driving this monstrosity. He can whip it in and out of the oddest places without any problems at all and you should see him on those curvy mountainous roads ! We
Entering Waldport, Oregon !
Crossing the bridge into Waldport ! had to make a pit stop off at the Chevron for propane, gas and air for the tires before we made it to the KOA but we were there in no time at all. We all headed straight for the showers and then it was time to do NOTHING !! The girls took off for the ocean while Tim and I stayed behind and fiddled around. I went to the front office and got change for the laundromat while Tim fixed a few things inside the motor home. We enjoyed sandwiches outdoors at the picnic table while watching the waves come in and go out over and over again. It was so peaceful and relaxing ! A little while later I look up and here comes the girls. They had been out exploring again and they had worked up an appetite. Tim and I thought it would be nice to rent bicycles and ride into the quaint little town and see what it had to offer. Well, the KOA wouldn't allow us take the bike's out of the park but the kind lady working there gave us the keys to her car and just let us take it into town.
Town Sign !
Quaint little town of Waldport, Oregon. We got into the car and I looked at Tim and said "See, there are still some kind people in the world". The four of us headed off into town and enjoyed ourselves until 6:00 when we had to get back with Jade's car because that's when she got off work. Other than having to do the laundry, we all just hung out and messed around the rest of the evening until it was time for bed. It was very relaxing and we all got some much needed down-time. All the time changes that we've had to go through on this trip have really started to catch up with us so this "rest day" was just what we needed. The people here in Walport were so incredibly kind and the town is so 'not Stockbridge"! Check out the pictures to see the incredible view right from the motor home. We're headed out in the morning to drive down the Oregon coast on Highway 101. I know Tim has already found another cave (Sea Lion Cave) to explore so I 'm sure that will be our first stop of the day. I hope we get to see some lighthouses and maybe
Entering the KOA in Waldport !
Mark this KOA down as one with a great view ! take a long walk on the beach. It's hard to believe we'll be in California soon, the girls are super excited to see everything there. I'm having the time of my life but I am still missing everyone like crazy !! Take Care, Candy
