Cordoba to Granada Espana

Leaving Cordoba we headed to Granada---have I mentioned how wonderful the GPS is, our "Matilda" has helped us out of so many difficult situations. She helps me navigate so Bob can drive. I will drive on the highways but not in the towns. Bob does a great job maneuvering this vehicle in narrow streets and round-abouts.... and there are many, many round-abouts. It is a challenge when one does not speak the language (well) and does not understand (all) the signs?!
Granada, Spain is located close to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and as a result the temperatures can vary greatly from day to day. Well, here we are at Sierra Nevada Campground. When we arrived the "reception" gal didn't speak English but we communicated our desire to see Alhambra. Before we knew it she ordered two tickets for Thursday and added a modest fee of 1 Euro each...what a bargain. We have heard of long, long lines and agencies that sell more than one needs, etc. Only so many visitors are permitted per day, so we are pleased to have our voucher in hand.
The map from the campground was not to scale, so after an hour of walking, we discovered how big this area really is. We found the Cathedral, but it is siesta time and everything closes from 2PM to 4PM. So we stopped for a beer on the way to the visitor's center and watched a fellow cut one of the wonderful cured hams of Spain. The actually hand from the ceiling. It was a masterful project, way more impressive than the museums and cathedrals, from my point of view.
Something we saw today, int he city of Granada got our curosity going. It involved banners in the main streets, its purpose is to offer some shade on the hot sunny days of summer.
Returning to the cathedral, Bob had fun taking photos. We have the system of the buses under control.

A good combination
It is interesting to see both the grandiose cathedrals and the everyday life of the people of Spain(or wherever you are). We do appreciate all of the work it takes to convey all of this information. Your experiences have been very enlightening. Much better than the usual tours.
