1: Marco the tour guide working his magic. 77 secs
We landed safely in LA at 3pm and made our way Downtown to Cecil Hotel which seemed to be mainly inhabited by homeless people and prostitutes and some other backpackers. We liked it. The area was a little bit dodgy and we were struck by the poverty that we saw, but the Americans have been really friendly and helpful. The next day we took the metro to Hollywood and went on the Beverly Hills Tour with a bunch of other tourists (mainly grannies and families). We saw the houses where all the celebrities live and halfway through the tour we turned to each other and said that we really don't give a f*ck where these rich bastards live, and we laughed!
One thing that shocked us was how segregated this place is. Downtown we seemed to be in the minority as we hardly saw any other white people. Lots of people begging on the street, people with mental health problems, drug users etc all using the public transportation. This was a huge contrast to the beautiful Beverly Hlls where the only Mexicans we saw were the gardeners.
After three days at the Cecil Hotel we decided to move on to Venice Beach which is a bit like Camden Market but on the beach. We are staying at the Hostel California and on the 1st of April Monia got her OHM tattoo which she has been longing to get for ages. Kiki was inspired and said to Monia -Monia, I want to get a tattoo too! Monia said -Do it Kiki, do it. Kiki said, -I want a rose Monia, but where should I put it? whatever I do I must get a tattoo! Monia said -Get a rose on your back, right above your crack! This rose was to be a travel rose, a symbol of the beginning of our journey! Therefore Kiki said -Monia, you must get one too! Monia said -ok, and they went back to the tattoo place and got their roses.
