Baking Time!
Alex making some cookies Thanksgiving baking was not enough for us. For our Christmas party Monday, seven out of the ten of us decided to bake Christmas cookies or other treats. I was the first to start on Saturday since the cinnamon sticks had to sit in the freezer overnight, but by Sunday there were two or three of us all cooking at once. After church, I started on the cut-outs, which was a lot of fun, and then we got to frost them. Needless to say, we have enough cookies to feed an army. Even Alex got in on the baking making three different kinds of cookies.
On Monday, then, the ten of us and Storm and Erin had a wonderful Christmas party. The entire kitchen table was lined with cookies and other treats. By the end of the night, it almost looked like we hadn't made a dent in them at all. We exchanged Secret Santa gifts, and I got a bow and arrow set from Abbi as well as two books. I was really excited. After opening gifts we went back for another round of treats and then played a Christmas song game that Siri's mom had emailed us. We had to
figure out what each song was only given the first letters of every word in the title. Some of them were easy, like SN for Silent Night, while other were really long and more difficult, like AIWFCIMTFT (All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth). Then we had another round of food. The second, and last, game that we played was Christmas themed charades - some of the best were Nativity Scene and Home Owner Driving Away Christmas Carolers with a Giant Candy Cane, although Storm's Melting Snowman and Carrie's Cattle Are Lowing definitely stole the show. Then, after eating more, we shared Christmas memories and stories and at about 10:30 started watching Home Alone.
This morning, we all woke up still feeling slightly sick from the amount of sugar that we had consumed, but that didn't stop us from eating more cookies for breakfast, lunch and after dinner.
