We made it safely to Los Angeles....not painlessly, but we're here. The flight was awful. There was a couple that took our seats because they wanted to sit together (not that we did or anything) and so after making a few seat changes to accommodate them, we wound up sitting with the loudest, most obnoxious, obscene, drunk girls behind and next to us. They were whiny, immature (I know from their conversations they're late 20's early 30's, married with children)...I could go on...and it didn't end when the plane took off...it didn't end when we were three hours into the flight...in fact, even when we landed and everyone was waiting to get off...it only got worse. The girl behind us actually started to make very rude, loud comments about me and Alex. Nice, eh?

Needless to say, I am SO glad they're not on their way to Australia.

If you're ever flying into L.A. and want a close by hotel, I recommend the Renaissance Hotel. Not that I have experience with any of the others around here, but I do know this is nice. The one thing I'm going to miss the most while we're gone is our bed
Duke's Duke's Duke's

Our breakfast view.
and this one is amazing. No stiff comforter and hard mattress here.

We rented a Malibu and drove unintentionally to Malibu for breakfast. We were off on our adventure when I realized I hadn't taken my coumadin (blood thinner) for the day. Tomorrow being the longest flight of my life and the coumadin taking 24 hours to kick in.....it's pretty important I get it in my system. We went to this place called Duke's that had an ocean view and an incredible buffet from fresh seafood to french toast to fresh fruit to omelettes made while you wait. We skipped walking around Santa Monica and got back to the hotel for me to take the pill.

My friend Sabrina moved out here right after she graduated high school to go to Brooks Institute for Photography and hasn't had a desire to move back since. She's in L.A. right now, about 10 minutes from our hotel. She took us to this place nearby that has incredible salads with raw food and vegan options to boot. We wrapped up the evening with coldstone ice cream and walked around her neck of the woods.

Seeing Sabrina was super nice for
SpiderSpiderSpider

This is the spider in Costa Rica that I didn't realize is on this memory card...it's a better shot then the previously posted one.
me, Alex digs here and vice versa, but aside from what I've written there's nothing new to report. I'm still in disbelief that we're in L.A. just a day away from being on the plane to Australia!

The weirdest part is that November 6th, 2007 will never exist for us. We leave on the 5th and arrive on the 7th, them being a day ahead of us, we'll never see the 6th.

Woohoo!
Sorry to hear about the flight to LA, but yeah, the one to Australia is a BITCH. Mine went to Auckland first so I sympathize! Sleep as much as you can because you'll be wired once you land! Oh and I've only been to LA once, but I had dinner at Duke's! :)

WOW
Wow wow wow. I was wondering when you were going to be off agian. I am sooo happy that you got to see Sabs. I miss her from highschool. Sorry about your plane ride- but just think- if it would have crashed, and you would have been sitting next to nice people-women and children or what have you- you would have wanted to help them with their oxygen masks first. This way you could have ripped the drunk girls' oxygen masks right out of the plane :) Miss you Suzie Q.
