Relaxing with the "Four Sisters"

We left Auckland on Air NZ - NZ2, on July 16, 2007. The flight was a little bumpy due to a tropical cyclone in the pacific, however service was good and we had 2 seats at the back of the 777 that gave us extra legroom. Touchdown ontime at 14:40 hrs...

The dry heat was welcome after the rain and dampness of the New Zealand winter. Anyway, we picked up a rental car and then it was into the traffic on the 405 North and a twenty minute drive to Caroline's sister's house in Brentwood.

And then the time got away from us. We spent the first couple of days with sister Marybeth and shopping, bearing in mind that we were limited to one bag of 20 kilos per person. Luckily, I offloaded a quilt and prezzies so gained about 5 kilos. But we did some fair damage in the outlet mall in Camarillo, about an hour north of LA. Another sister, Chris, rolled back in on Wed., and then her daughter and the last sister, Margot, arrived Friday. So, the houseparty has begun. Not alot happening though. A lot of having fun and talking, and Kevin is being very patient about the whole thing. More family coming over for a visit Sunday. Then we are outta here Monday....

Today, tho, we actually got out and walked, about 3-4 miles (or 5-6 km) up and down Venice Beach and Santa Monica, including the pier. We are enjoying food with flavor and eating up large. The weather is lovely, about 25 degrees C, or 80 F, and no humidity. But a little warm at night. A good time is being had!

Wind and Rain
Well after blowing and raining we now have cold, 12c in the kitchen this morning before the gas heat kicked in. Great weekend of sport, won the Rugby, Netball, Basketball, and the Warriors did the business as well. This is a great idea, nice to know not everyone is shivering. Heading to the mountain Tues for a bit of a ski fix. Ingrid is in Europe somewhere, 3 month trip, also enjoying the sun. Cheers.......
