The last 3 days have been combined into this final entry.

We expected 4th July to be serious party time - we were wrong, it seems that 4th July in US is mainly a family holiday and as such most places were relatively quiet, the day was spent being boring/finally relaxing by the pool, off to the Vegas Outlet Centre for shopping in the early evening, dinner at The Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay and a relatively early night after a few drinks in Aurora in Luxor.

5th July was back to Vegas Outlet in the morning for the few bits forgotten, followed then by a stroll down the strip in the early afternoon, and we picked the hottest day ever in Vegas at 117 degrees to stroll/stagger down the strip.

My opinion - The Venetian was far in away the most impressive hotel we saw.

Highlight of the evening was being turned away from Coyote Ugly in New York New York, by a doorman who was probably still having his nappy changed when I had my first drink, It seems ridiculous that no common sense could be used whne people are blatantly obviously over 21 - but hey - it was still funny.

6th July and back to Manchester via Chicago, got a nice upgrade on Ted Airlines (part of United), but depsite my best efforts and jokes (I personally thought that when asked if I had packed anything sharp - just My Wit, was a good answer - apparently not) no upgrade was forthcoming, but fortunately a good tailwing meant a flight of only 6hrs 45 mins home.

4 days later, still playing a little with the jet lag, but have been asked a lot about my highlights, so here they are in no particular order.

San Franisco
Yosemite National Park
Deadwood
Grand Canyon
Vegas

Special Thanks to;

My Name is Earl, without whom, the first night in Deadwood wouldn't have been the same.
The trucker in the layby between Yellowstone and Rapid City, who insisted I should know his relatives The Harrisons and the Woodheads - I promised to say hello - so HELLO - pillock
The chefs at Coronado Room and Little Buddha for memorable meals
The bunny girls and those women in their underwear in Moon and The Playboy Club - Thankyou
My trusty steed the Chrysler Sebring - which despite not being able to drive up hills - got me through with no problems

So finally £2500, 4800 miles, 10 states, 3 plane rides (5 for Mark), 10 hotels and about 2000 photos its goodbye!
