Well, made it to sydney and guess what? It's raining and the coldest it's been for years! No matter though, we're here and having a good time! Took a ferry ride to Darling Harbour, a bus to bondi ( daly ferry ticket for 15.50 covers both buses and ferries) and finished up with dinner in China town (Remember that place Orla and Paul????)
When I last wrote we were in Cairns for a night having left Port douglas! Port douglas is a lovely place and the drive there from cairns is specatcular! Well worth driving the 50 or so K further north! it's a pretty and buzzing place with plenty of good restaurants and bars!

Before we hit rainy Sydney we had 2 days in the desert at the Ayres rock resort in an hotel called Outback Pioneer. Nice place. the rooms are cabins but inside they are proper hotel rooms. There are dorms and campsites also for those on a budget. They have this great bbq in the evenings where you buy your meat from the bar and cook it on big communal bbqs the eat at long tables in the outdoor bar! really nice way to meet people!

Took a bus with Outback Express to see the sunrise (had to get up at 5.30) It was a bit disappointing as there were clouds, but, Oh my God, the sunset was spectacular!!!! More than made up for it! In between we took a 7.4k scramble through the Valley of the Winds in the Olga's (another group of huge rocks about an hour's drive or less from Uluru)! It was quite a tough walk but really worth it for the views!
Tomorrow we collect the hire car and drive to the Blue Mountains to stay with the Aussie relatives! Really looking forward to that, and they say the rain is to stop!!!! We keep being told that it's usually warm and sunny during the day at this time of year! I don't believe it! It's just a ploy to get visitors to come during the winter!!!!!!

Hey mam (and lads)! I'm home and it's bloody weird. Summer here but I daresay as bloody miserable as an Aussie summer. I've switched over to my Irish no. and have an o2 sim so I can text your Aussie phone... I just lost the no. when I switched sims, so get in touch! Maybe we could even talk for real while you're in Blue Mts. What are you mad?? Stop using hotel internet access and go find a packpacker place net cafe. It'll be much cheaper and will in all likelihood allow uploading photos. Kate used to do it... Talk soon, Much love, Caoimhe. xxx
