Hello all!! I know that I wrote a little bit about my trip down to Patagonia but I didn’t finish telling you about the rest. So here it goes: after Torres del Paine, we went down to Punta Arenas for two nights. At this point we were very tired from the hike and just traveling so Sunday we went to the airport, wanting to see if we could get on a plane that day instead of Monday, but we couldn’t. Our ticket wouldn’t let us switch, even though there were some available seats. We waited in the airport for about 3-4 hours and then finally gave up. So we went back to Punta Arenas and right when we got off the bus there was a lady who had rooms available in here hostel, aka her house. She took us to her “hostel” in her beat up fan that stunk like something I can’t even describe, and the closer we got to the hostel the more scared we got. It defiantly wasn’t in the most elegant part of town, but no worries we made it through the night and got on our plane back to Santiago. It was defiantly something that

I am so glad that I got the chance to experience; I met a lot of people and saw places that are indescribable.

But now to more recent news, the other day I signed up for a program to where I will be volunteering in a public school helping a teacher teach English. I’ve been told that the public schools aren’t very good, if parents can afford it they send their children to private schools. I don’t start until the 16th of April but am really looking forward to it. I’ll be working with girls around 10 years old, and with my experience in my dad’s classes it should be very interesting!

Last Sunday I had a really nice day with my family. My brother works at the YMCA and my mom’s late husband used to work there. So we went out into the country about 45 mins. and went to the YMCA camp and had lunch and then walked up to where my mom’s husband is buried. I really enjoyed this because it made me feel like a part of the family and that they were really accepting me. After we visited his grave we went across

the street to a neighbors property and started taking wood and walnuts! I found the whole situation funny, my brother climbed a tree and shook it while we were getting the walnuts that fell off the tree. After we got all that we could we went back to the camp and had dinner and then finally went back home. It was a really nice day, one of my favorites so far.

We have our spring break coming up and I was planning on going to Brazil, I found a really cheap flight and everything but then I found out US citizens need a visa and have to pay $100 to get into the country. So in the end it just seemed like to much work so instead I’m planning on going to Lima, Peru. I’m hoping that the weather will be nice because right now, in Valpo, it’s rather cold. But I’m just planning on just relaxing, going to the beach and enjoying the currency rate!

Oh and last night I went to a ballet folklore dance show, which was amazing!!! The dances were traditional dances of Chile from north to south, and the variety of dances they

had was amazing! The entire time my eyes were glued to the stage. I don’t think they perform very often and I am so happy that I got to experience that. I took a little video clip that hopefully I’ll be able to put up; the dance that is in the clip was my favorite!

But I think that’s about it for now, I’ll try to keep this a bit more updated and put more pics on it! But have a wonderful Easter if I don’t talk to you then! I’m sad that I’m missing Easter there, but I’m glad that I’m here. You all will be in my heart!! Love you!
