The Union Jack was lowered here, marking the birth of the nation in 1957. Building in forefront is the Sultan Abdul Samad Building with the KL Tower in the background.
The journey to Kuala Lumpur took around 2.5 hours but it was a bit of a bumpy ride, the roads are in good condition, just bumpy!

We arrived at the Pudaraya Bus Station around 2.30pm to a mass of noise, people and traffic! It was a bit of a shock to the system, having spent 6 nights on a quiet island and 3 nights in a relatively quiet town! We checked in to a hostel called Anuja, just opposite this bus station...needless to say, one can hear the traffic in our room!

KL has the same abundance of malls as Singapore. It is also well connected by monorail/metro and buses. The only problem here is that parts of the monorail are owned by different companies so one has to change stations to get where they want to, rather than have one journey as for the London Underground. We have visited the museums, the Independence Sqaure, the KL Tower, the Twin Towers (one of the tallest buildings in the world) and will be visiting the Batu Caves tomorrow.

KL is a little disappointing in some ways - it seems to lack the history of even Melaka, and if there

Me, looking at the map...not a good idea due to my lack of map reading skills!
is no history what you are left with is just a city. And I think it's the humidity as well - humidity and cities don't mix well, and me being a townie at heart, that says a lot really!

I must mention one mall that we visited - the Times Square Mall. It has 10 floors, with a cinema, but the main feature must be the rollercoaster which is inside! One has to see it to believe it!!!

Another thing one must be aware of here - pedestrian crossings do not mean that pedestrians have right of way!!! Cars also seem to go through red lights but the main danger are the motorbikes who go up on the pavements sometimes! Needless to say, both James and I are keeping an eagle eye out!
