For those of you that may be wondering what we are up to at the moment here's a quick update.

On the whole, NOT A LOT!!

We found our apartment and since then we seem to have focused most of our attention on getting work - without much luck. We both started and quit one last week! Joining the mass of travellers who end up doing the rounds with the clipboards trying to get people to sign up to regular charity donations. It was commission based and we got paid by the number of people we signed up. And guess what, that came to a grand total of 1 between us for 3 days work. We just weren't right for the job! In theory it sounds quite easy, "don't give them any opportunities to say no" our trainer told us. But as we were knocking on door after door of mainly elderly people, we couldn't bring ourselves make them feel bad for not giving $40 a month for the next two years so that we could get paid something. And so the job hunt continues....

In the meantime, we had the very successful celebration of Caroline's birthday (as you can see by the photo it was celebrated a bit too well!). We've also tried to keep ourselves sain with some regular breaks to walk round the botanical gardens and the beach in St Kilda. And helping ourselves to a bottle of 'cleanskins' every now and again (wine without the label that costs $3 a bottle!). The heat is still ridiculous. Oh, and this morning we saw a flat possum on the road nearby, we're hopnig it's not our little furry friend.

Hope everyone is keeping well at home.

Also, we've added a few more pictures - the last lot weren't great and Caroline was very happy with hers being on few you all to see. The weekend gone was a bank holiday - 'Australia Day' on Monday and we went along to the final day of the Moomba Water Festival. There was all sorts going on along the river Yarra, mainly waterskiing competitions but also charity bathtub racing and flying man competitions. To go with that, there was fairground rides, music stages, volleyball, football events. It was massive, right in the middle of the city and completely free. And to finish it all off was a huge fireworks displays that went along the river. It was great fun and a nice break from the job hunting we've been doing.

Hello, it was good to see you have added another blog at long last. Thanks for your emails and text, I'm pleased your parcel arrived safely. I am sorry to hear that your job didn't work out, but I'm not surprised you didn't stick to it - I didn't think it was your sort of thing. What are your next plans, how much longer have you got at Melbourne before you move on. I suppose you will be worried about your money getting low so good luck on the job search. Everything is pretty much the same at home. Hope you manage to get on the computer soon . Give us a ring if you are. Love you lots. Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Chris and Caroline, Sorry I havent written for a while no excuses, but Ido know where you are up to via your Mum and the blog site. Life seems to be very full for you at the moment never a dull moment and lots of exciting things still to do on the horizen. How are you finding the heat of Australia a bit different from home we are in for a cold spell with snow and high winds for the next couple of days after a really lovely of spring like weather. We are looking forward to going to our caravan as it is open again. We are hoping to sort out our holiday just deciding where to go we fancy the Carabian as we have never been there. I hear you have rented an apartment it must feel good to have your own base. Cant believe how quickly the time has gone since you left in September but will have loads of stories to tell us when you come home, I wish I was you at your age being to see and do so many wonderful things with your life, enjoy every moment and keep each other safe, I am sure you will find a decent job soon as long as you are together you can climb any mountain as Great Grandad would have said ---love G/Mumxxx

Hailstones.
Hy Gypo's, Looking out of the window right now its hailstones the size of golf balls coming down, and a 70 mile an hour gale blowing. this made me think how you must be getting home-sick after so much boring sun-shine and tropical weather. After a miserable week , with a selection of certs going down at Cheltenham as G/mum has said we are planning to book a holiday over the next few days. Liverpool are doing well in the E ufa cup and the new stadium is now under-way They are increasing the spec to hold up to 75k this will reduce the waiting time for a seasons ticket to about 10 years. So I dont think I'll Bother. Hope you get sorted out soon with some work, and would you let me know what the next leg of your travels are and the provisional time scale. Take care of each other stay safe Lots of Love and best wishes G/Dad.xxx
