With all the excitement of their last few weeks, it was time to slow down and enjoy the last few days..

Mum and Dad were back in the office getting in touch with the world, and saw first hand the office Alcohol Policy, as 5 o’clock came and the bottles started popping! Again, sitting back and emerging in the culture, they took to sipping their champagne and Mum took to finding me a husband!

Still outstanding on their list’s of “to do’s” was a visit to my first Pub, where I spent the most of my summer with the boys, so on Wednesday night it was off to the 3 Stags for my first trip back without, well, my 3 Stags, Adam, Frankie and Laurence!

The next day I’m lucky they were even game to come into work! Not only was it the first real day of dreary rain since Stonehenge, it was the big protest outside the American Embassy next door and our entrance was guarded by our very own armed police to avoid any un-necessary redecoration to our foyer!!

All this excitement built up quite an appetite, so once the action had moved on outside, I abandoned my lunch time gym session to take them out to the Hampton’s local, The Audley! A completely different crowd to 3 Stags, their were Mayfair suits everywhere, and Mum again took it upon herself to point out how many potential husbands stood before us, while on his ventures to the bathrooms Dad found a table of young PA’s all enjoying their lunch!

Time for me to head back to work came way to quickly as I crossed the road back into the office after enjoying my last lunch with M&D, later heading home for my last meal cooked by Mummy and my last night on the couch!

Saying goodbye was so much harder than the last time..

In July I was so excited about the journey ahead and the relieved to finally be getting on the plane after all the drama’s of my excessive packing, knowing that it was only going to be 6 months until I saw them next.. This time without the excitement, and without knowing when I would be with them both again, it was much, much harder, and under the bright lights of the airport I had my big, face covering, Dior’s on!

Now both fully competent in the London Tube system and the English motorways, they “Touched In and Touched Out” for the last time, survived Leicester Square on New Years Eve and did their fair share of Pub-going! They saw The Producers in the West End in it’s final days and took a train to Paris.. They did their grocery shopping on a double-decker bus, combated Oxford Street and Harrods Boxing Day sales and in their spare time cleaned every inch of my apartment until it sparkled!

So it was no surprise that I had so much trouble navigating my way out of Heathrow after leaving them at departure security through very leaky eyes! It was amazing to have them with me, we had so much fun and it was fantastic to show them places and people I keep trying to describe to them! But to have them leave, combined with the 3rd anniversary of the time Josh left us, and knowing just how far away they, and the rest of the family, were hit quite hard!!

However, not even leaking eyes could stop me from finding my way to Bond Street to buy myself a charm bracelet in a ‘Little Blue Box’ to hang the charm they bought me in Paris (much needed retail therapy) before stepping back into the office where Trudi and Jules had a tissue box waiting and I sat watching the Cathy Pacific website all day to make sure that the flight ran safely!

Funny how a few years ago I couldn’t wait for Mum and Dad to get on a plane and have the place to myself.. Now I want them to fly one back again just to fill the empty space!
