Making the most of the office resources!
When pushed for space in the bathroom, try the kitchen eye wash basin! With Santa’s dancing out on the street, all the lights now up and glowing, and the stores pumping the message of “giving” it’s fair to start assuming that Christmas parties shouldn’t be too far behind!
Warming up on the 30th of November, I went with Linda (from Hamptons) to her previous work’s Christmas Drinks, after meeting a lot of them at the pub the week before. We got there for 7, after having a drink after work with our own crowd, only to walk into rounds of shots already being passed around. It was here that I waved my white flag and surrendered, there is no way I can keep up with the English, especially not at Christmas!
Following evening was the Christmas do for in-house catering company that I work for at Hamptons, this time with fancy frocks and the whole kit and caboodle! Because they are only a small company, instead of having a party on their own, they organised tables in a huge temporary structure set up for the Holiday Season. I felt like my high school formals all over again!!
Victoria, as she is trained in as my relief, was also invited and we
were the first to hit the dance floor - possibly a little to egger as we just jumped up as soon as we heard the music, completely oblivious to the professional dancers we were grooving around while they tried to perform a choreographed routine.. Opps!! Luckily the boss wasn’t far behind and was very impressed with my enthusiasm, and I still had a job to go to on Monday!
And to make it a hat trick, Saturday night I had been invited to a party back at No. 1 Leiscter Square by the same organisers as the Moet and Chandon party a few weeks back, and I didn’t exactly have to drag Vic kicking and screaming!!
We first met the boys in Covent Garden to catch up on all the goss and our favourite cocktails before heading out to Leister Square. When we did finally get to the Christmas party I was a little concerned that we had the wrong dress code as we walked in to face Can Can girls shaking about in oversized wigs and Madonna coned corsets! Thankfully they were only a part of the entertainment and behind them was the normal crowd where we
spotted our favourite DJ, Nick Blair, on the decks (who has looked after us very well in terms of free entry and guest lists) and was very impressed to see us there! Hehe* Yet again.. It's never what you know, but who you know!!
As for the dress code at Wednesday's big Office Launch party, I looked like a Flight Hostess/Buttercup as all the staff helping were dressed in matching black dresses (with lots of legs and chests :S) with gold chiffon neck ties! Not that our outfits was all I was worried about!!
With a maximum capacity of 150 guests, I was slightly concerend a few weeks back when we were given 600 guests to post invitations! Rule of thumb is that 2/3's will always deline.. But as we drew closer we already had 165 Accepts, 38 Staff and more frightenly, over 250 that had given no responce at all despite follow up ! We were also awaiting our Champagne to arrive (supplied by only 2 suppliers in the UK) at 2pm on the day, even though it was due the previous Monday! Call me crazy, but I loved it!!!
Champange arrived with only 2 hours
to chill, it wasn't discovered until our first guest asked for wine, that we had not infact recieved any of our white wine glasses, which had been completely overseen until then!! Oh it was fun!! Luckily, after the Directors had had a few drinks, we could had been serving them drinks from fish bowls and they wouldn't of noticed, they were having a great time! When it came time to close, they invited us out to their Members Club, where Chealsea football club were inches from me at the main bar in Fifty, but ofcourse, me being me had no idea!!
Then the next night (yes.. busy, busy, busy) was the errection of the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree, where I dressed up as Mrs. Clause for my Christmas Postcard!! I got quite a few giggles, but it was alot of fun!!
And just to prove that it’s not all play this Christmas, and that I work hard too, I waited at a Christmas function in Madame Tsauds, where I had the hot spot of the night rubbing shoulders with the most beautiful people of the world, Angelina Jolie and David Beckham.. Or at least their waxed twins!
Now with only a few days to go Vic and I have been making the most of my final teenage days, heading out into the night Sunday to Leister Square, Monday to Kingley Club and Tuesday to Canary Wharf as we decided it's not just a birth day - it should be a full blown festival!!
But little did I know how festive my Birthday was really going to be.....!!!

Happy Birthday
Happy 20th Birthday Megan. Would love to be there with you, even though it looks sooooooo cold, but the best we can do is send a little something along with Mum and Dad. Sounds like you're having an amazing time, but you have to act like a grown up now, that you're leaving your teenage years behind!!!!! God bless, Auntie Susan and Uncle Phil
