Well, it was a late start today, after a late night! I haven’t been out dancing, and singing like that in public for such a long while! But it does you good to let your hair down, every now, and again! We had such a good night! I didn’t drink, but loved every minute of it! Oh…. And the Brazilians….. we were all buzzing! Loved it!

So I slept like a log all night. I woke up at about 10:15. I drank water, and went back to bed! I actually only laid in another 15 minutes, then I was up, showered, dressed and out.

I met Timo on the doorstep, then two minutes later we were joined by Charles and Sarah. I was just in time to say goodbye to Sarah, as she is leaving. She is a Southern French girl, living and working in London. We said our farewells, and then there were four!

Next to come out was Angelika; she looks surprisingly fresh this morning. As do the boys to be honest. Every morning they all turn up, fresh as daisies…. Externally, anyway. I can’t vouch for how they are inside .. ha ha

Angelika has gone on a 3 - 4 horse ride today, which she was really looking forward to. So she got picked up and left for her time out.

We have Timo, Charles and myself left. We are going for breakfast. I went out first, scouting for a brekky venue. I found d a great menu at The Hideout. I placed my order for sourdough toast, scrambled eggs on the side, with 2 hash browns. It was o lot about 5 minutes later when the boys arrived. I did I tend to take a photo of my brekky. It was so good, but I remembered about a photo, when I had finished eating. I thought, no point in taking a photo of a clean plate!

After breakfast, the boys went off to prepare for their afternoon surfing tuition. I set off on my walk to the lighthouse. As I am so unfit, this is going to be a challenge for me. There is also height involved, which is a worry for my ears, but I am going to go at my own pace. I have, and continue to keep the water intake up. I have drank today’s hydralites, and the weather is warm, but overcast, which is much better than the heat in the sun! So, here goes!

I started out walking along the beachside at Byron Bay, all flat so far. This route took me to The Pass, where I bought a coffee. I took the climb up the stairs to the viewing platform and was able to watch the surfers below.

At the Pass car park at Palm Valley, I connected with the pathway sign by the picnic area which directed me through a wonderful cool rainforest walk, then on through towering Bangalow Palms and ancient Burrawangs. This trail led me past vantage points high above the coastline, providing great views from the clifftops into the crystal clear waters below. I continued on to come down into Wategos Beach. Then pushing on, I passed Little Wategos Beach. I can’t lie, I was sweating, and struggling at this point, but I considered that I was doing well for me!!!! Luckily for me, I was blissfully unaware of the high climb yet to come! There are a lot more stairs to climb! I took my time!

I finally came to, ‘The Most Easterly Point of Australia’. A great scenic point. I continued around and up some more…. I have finally made it… I am at the lighthouse, and surprisingly, it’s a lighthouse!!! As far as I can see, It’s really not about the lighthouse, it’s about the journey to it, and all that encompasses. I would say, it was a hard walk for me, but worth it!

I considered that I had opted for the easier return route past Tallow Ridge, which is a hang glide launch site. On reflection, I would say, there is not an easier option available… unless you’re in transport! I was very happy to reach Lee Road toilets, where I had a chance to sit a while, lower my heart rate, and have more water. (Thank goodness I drank my hydralites this morning.) I’ve also refilled my water bottle a few times on route.

As I was walking I saw one of the ash trays that are all over. There are also billboards too. The campaign is. ‘Don’t be a tossed’. It’s a humorous approach to help to reduce rubbish/litter in NSW.I passed quite a few telegraph poles that have been decorated with aboriginal painting. They do brighten things up. As sweaty, and knackered as I am, and I still have 1.3 miles to go, it was still worth it!

I did it! I got home at about 5pm, but I did drop off in town to but a dress that I looked at last night. I’m happy with that. Whilst I was paying for it, I could hear loud drumming coming up the street. I popped outside to have a look. It was the Batala Percussion Group drumming, and dancing their way through the street. One lady was holding up a sign for the Harmony Parade. It is for the Byron Multicultural Harmony Day.

I returned back to the apartment. I made a coffee, and invited Angelika down for a cup a tea, and a catch up. After Angelika left, I had a bit of relax time, watched half an hour of TV, then got showers and changed ready for dinner.

Tonight Timo is staying home as he is suffering from surfing, Charles is walking out with Angelika and I to get himself a take-away, but it’s just us two for dinner tonight. We went to Orgasmic Foods for dinner. I had falafel, baclava and a fresh mint tea. I enjoyed it. We got some extra mint so that we could have mint tea back at our place before bed. We walked back to where we are staying. It’s only about a ten minute walk, so not too bad.

We sat on the balcony drinking mint tea for an hour or so. We’re both pretty tired after a late night, and a physical day. We have to be at the bus at 9:15 in the morning for our next move. So to bed it is!
