Saturday 22 July 2023, day 7 pembrokeshire coastal path from Pembroke to Milford Haven

Alltrails app: 5 hours 44 minutes walking. 12.3 miles. 1010 feet elevation gain.

No Garmin data.

Gary has much newer Garmin and consistently measures greater distances and elevations.

We left the Coach House Hotel a couple of minutes before 0800 and walked the half mile to the start of today's walk at the Pembroke Castle. It rises above us as we walk beside the millpond and cross to the other side.

It was raining steadily and wind tended to whip the water into our faces. Rain pants felt very good. We walked mainly on secondary road from Pembroke to Pembroke Dock. This ended one part of the all trails navigation and I had to connect to the next. At a market we found public pay toilets and some shelter from the rain.

We are now walking directly across the Milford Haven inlet from the refineries we passed a few days ago. On this side are storage tanks for gas, windmill electric generators and solar panels. Several bridges are needed to cross over roads and pipelines.

Out of Pembroke Dock the first highway bridge is half a mile long. We walk around and above the bays and then cross on several overpasses above roads and pipelines to ships docked below.

The route dropped us on a narrow windy and busy road. A bit dicey since there was no shoulder, only the road to walk on.

Milford Haven is a town with a pretty park and sculpture as you enter. It seems to be much more prosperous than the other villages we have stayed at.

The Ty hotel is a nice new and modern hotel. Room is small but comfortable and clothes are drying in every place possible.

The noise was very dominant for several minutes as we walked under and around these four wind turbines.
