Mexican standoffMexican standoffMexican standoff

Now you know I am not joking he was that near and I have not mucked around with this photo!!!!!!!!!
Up early from the campsite in Wales to get the ferry over to Dublin and then onto Fivemiletown which is in the county of Tyrone. We had booked the lounge on the ferry as last time we took a ferry we struggled to get seats. If we had not booked the lounge this time I really do not think it would have been a problem if totally honest as it was relatively empty. When we drove the motorhome onto the ferry behind a big coach the gentleman started to tie the wheels down on our motorhome and the coach - this to me did not bode well as I thought they must think this is going to be a choppy ride for the next couple of hours. Thank goodness this was not the case and it was as calm as a cucumber - I have never understood this saying as how does anyone know what a cucumber feels like! The only bit of spice on the crossing was whilst we were waiting outside of the harbour for another ferry to come out it felt like a Mexican standoff for a while and all I could think was is this ferry going to keep coming for us or would it at some stage turn out of hitting us straight on the bow (now Eric a friend of ours if he is reading this will love that I do listen to him even though I never show it, ha ha). I also noted the red and green buoys and now here is a lesson for all you non sailors out there - the red is like port it is always left on the table so will be on your left (good pupil aren’t I Eric). Anyway back to the Mexican standoff I thought if this goes wrong for us at least people will stop talking about Philip Schofield.

We arrive in Ireland and I am using a map YES a map get us to our destination a little place called Fivemiletown to a campsite we had booked already. It is a council run campsite but OMG it is lovely and there are only 8 pitches and it is round a lake. So from now on we are off grid as so to speak because we have nothing booked not even a ferry back. I have plotted that before we actually start the Wild Atlantic Way we will have a look at Giants Causeway but probably stay in Ballycastle further east of the Giants Causeway and get up early to see the Causeway without lots of people. This is the plan, let’s see if it actually comes to anything - watch this space. I can honestly say there has not been any harsh words between Mr & Mrs Fairbairn which is amazing as we have driven a few miles - am I getting nice in my old age - no its a phase!
