We have been in Puerto Viejo for 4 days now and it is beautiful. We have been swimming a lot and lying on the white sand beaches. We took a 22KM bike ride to Manzanillo yesterday and it was really fun. We have been sleeping at a hostel that has hammocks outside instead of beds. The hammocks are about 20ft from the beach and the hostel cat just had little kittens. But other than that, we had to leave because it was out of town and we are catching a 6am bus tomorrow to go to Panama. Tonight we ate dinner at a Jamaican restaurant and had wonderful Jerk Chicken. There is a Jamaican influence in Puerto Viejo and it is nice to indulge in its culture. This is by far the hottest place that we have been in Costa Rica. Lindsay has also found her favorite restaurant in the world, it is called “Bread and Chocolate”. You can add chocolate sauce to almost everything on the menu. Lindsay had French toast with chocolate sauce and Lucas had a tuna sandwich. The chocolate is all fresh from the cocoa plants grown in Costa Rica. The other night we went out to the bars and listened to a really great Calypso band called “Plan B”. The drummer for the band looked like a young Keith Richards and wailed on the drums like a maniac, but he was extremely good. The bars here are literally right on the beach, they have tables in the sand. We don’t have many pictures from Puerto Viejo because we didn’t want to bring our camera to the beach with us. Well we are off to Bocas del Toro, Adios.

Either you have found paradise or you need to take up a career as travel writers. Hammocks 20 feet from the white sand beach, bar tables in the sand with live music, and waves during intermissions, locally made chocolate...nice. Here, well it's 20 degrees at night, +30 in the day, pipes freezing, roads icey...you get the picture. Enjoy the hot weather. See you in Panama. E
