Just looked up Thursday markets this morning and Marche Bastille came up. So off we went around 11. It certainly is the largest food and odds and ends market we've been to in Paris. Took a long time to check everything out. Lost Ross a few times. Bought some fruit and nuts and a lot of "almost buys'. Next up was Place des Vosges which we've never seen and we got a couple of pastries to eat in the park. Sketched a fountain and a bit of the apartments there that are from the 17th century. Apparently Mozart gave one of his first recitals here. Now to just walk and follow the crowds. I managed to follow the ones who had shopping bags with good labels on them figuring we'd end up somewhere interesting. We did. Uniqlo. I was even able to talk Ross into buying some clothing. He now has 4- yes four new pairs of socks. Value in the quantity or he would have only purchased one. I grabbed a few small items as well and we (well I) happily left to walk some more. Lunch at a cafe near the Archives and then walk some more to the river and cross Ile St. Louis again. Thank goodness for my phone and the offline maps. Went into the art store just around the corner from our apartment and they had the waterholding brushes I use for my sketches at a much better price and of very good quality. Lucky. Now we've had dinner and the Karaoke has begun so I guess it's time to get ready for bed.
