Boy these 9:30 mornings are becoming a real habit. Out on the streets by 11 and off to the Metro. A day of walking and planned shopping! But actually spent the least on goods today but oh my I could have if I had another suitcase. We went to Les Halles and followed the phone. First stop was trying to get Ross to do a set pose by the big head and hand sculpture because we had one of me from a trip a few years back. Well Ross is Mr. Polite and a slow mover so we started out as the only people there and by the time he got to the head another group had moved in and then 3 more and they all took 5 or more different poses. I had already coached him on how to pose but still... Anyway after the photo we finally moved on and found a coffee spot. Didn't see cappuccino on the menu but the waiter assured me they made them. Waited quite a bit but when it came it was more like 3 espresso shots and a bit of foam. Oh well I needed the caffeine. Shocker
- most expensive espresso I've ever had. Worked out to $12 CAD. Decided to limit myself to only 1 coffee today. The building right across from this stop has a fantastic overcover on it and we've seen it a few times on other trips. Finally found out it is the Ministry of Culture. Next we head to Palais Royal Gardens. I can't believe we have never been here before. What a cool park for play and photos. More posed pics of Ross and this was the time I realized I hadn't even had the camera on when I took the photos of Ross at the big head and hand. These I checked. People were stretched out on the green chairs with their faces pointing to the sun. I guess they are storing up the Vitamin D. Watched a game of boules too. The next 3 stops I had on my route were called Passages - Jouffroy, Vivienne, Colbert. These are unique boutique style stores. Didn't go into any of the shoe or clothing ones as one look in the window showed me the price was way above my yearly clothing budget for one item. That left the toy, art and
funky kind of stores. With 7 grandkids I could have spent a fortune. So many fun things. Instead I spent it on my hair. Happened by a very cool looking salon and after checking their prices I realized they were about the same as my hairdresser. A little tricky telling her how I wanted it cut but she seemed to understand and checked with me by mime how it was going. I like it - it feels good but I've only looked in the mirror once. We'll see how I like it after I actually have to dry and brush it myself. Had lunch - a super salad and Ross had frittata. Sauntered back through the streets aimlessly and actually ended up where we had started. Just as we were going to the Metro I realized I hadn't done my daily sketch. Nothing around looked appealing - just retail stores in Forum des Halles. But there was a rock group doing a sound check for the evening's concert so I have a caricature of that. Metro home. Picked up Japanese on the way and feet up ready to hear some of the crazy karaoke. Hope they shut down early.
