Basically as the summary suggests. Im definately headed to machu picchu, but would like to go to more un-discovered places, just wondered if anyone had any fab places they had visited and would strongly recommend me going to... thankyou! Reply to this

The other obvious places to go would be Lake Titicaca, Nazca for a flight over the lines, maybe Huacachina to do sandboarding. There's also quite a lot to do around Cusco. Apart from that, there is a lot in the north that's good to do. Chiclayo, Trujillo, Huanchaco, Cajamarca are all good and the northern beaches will still have sun in July. Lima is good to visit if there's stuff you want to do but, in my opinion, was no-where as nice as Cusco and I found it very dirty, noisy and expensive.

Hello!

I am currently in Cusco and I recommend you to do the INKA JUNGLE TREK, its a great way to see the machu picchu, it is a mix between biking and hiking and the classic inka rrail is already booked until august!

I traveled with PIE PERU, they have a website if you want, and its a very goo agency and the owners are very nice and helpful. Reply to this

Have you given any thought to the Peruvian Amazon? There are a number of ways to see some of it. Package deals with a flight from Cuzco to a jungle lodge in the Puerto Maldonado area, fly into Iquitos, bus to Pucallpa or Yurimaguas then take a riverboat. I would recommend the Bradt guide, The Amazon -- 3rd edition recently published, seems to be pretty up-to-date.

KST

yes, puerto maldonado is a good idea, you can visit ecoamazonias, I know it is a good agency.

And also, have you thought about going to Puno? the titikaka lake? Reply to this

KST- definately wanted to go to the amazon, thankyou for the guide info!

Personally I'd advise against hiring a car. Not something I'd want to try seeing the state of some of the roads and bus travel is so cheap there's really no need. The Panamericana runs straight down the length of Peru more or less so the places on the coast are linked by a good road. Cusco is inland and was a bit of a long-haul - I did an overnight bus from Ica to Cusco. Fly if you're short on time but generally buses are very easy and quite cheap - you shouldn't have any problems with them. Lima to Cusco was the only flight I did in Peru simply as I was short on time and got a flight for just under $100 in the middle of summer so prices aren't too bad. Reply to this

LOLL, if you want to know more about my trip I can give you this link, so you can see the price and the duration:http://www.pie-peru.com/en/details/new-inka-jungle-trail-biking-to-machu-picchu.html

I had to bokk this trek as the inka trail was full but I don't regret it! Reply to this
