irish boy needs advice on south america trip..
Hi All,
Im heading to South America in June for 3 months, i arrive in Rio and fly out from chile exactly 3 months later
looking at a map of sa, my route, with the amount of time i have, would be to go rio, peru, bolivia, argentina, chile
should i go to paraguay, i was told by a friend that there is very litlle there although he was only there for a weekend
what about ecuador, should i try and fit that in, would i have time? is it worth it?
im going on my own, that shouldnt be a problem....right?! 😊
Reply to this Going on your own will be ok, lots of people do it solo and you will meet other gringos on your route and on the different tours and activities! I only did Peru and Bolivia and I still have Ecuador to go but if you can get to the jungle in another country there wont be that much more to see in Ecuador (from what Ive heard)
Things def to do:
Bolivia, the salt flats, La Paz and the wolds most dangerous road, Potosi and the mines
Peru, Lake titcaca, Cusco and if you can the inca trail, sand bugging in the desert and Arequipa is nice!
It´s hard to know how long you will be in each place so if you can fit it in do it and if you think not then compromise and don´t go especially if it will cost loads to do little there! hope that helps a bit

Also another question, is the currency different in each country?
Reply to this Yes the currencies are different in every country. You might also need travel visas to enter certain countries depending on where you're from.
Reply to this Ireland, ill have a look into that
also, when you're doing the inca trail do you bring your own tent, sleeping bag etc or how does it work?
what about trekking boots etc, should all this stuff be brought from home, or bought over there if needed?
total noob questions but any help would be great 😊
Reply to this Bring what you need. Prices on stuff in Brazil could be double what it costs at home.
