Where to stay? I'd like to be centrally located to the main area in San Juan, Old San Juan and the east coast.
How far is the drive from San Juan to the east coast where you catch the ferry to La Isla Culebra? Also how much does the ferry cost?
What restaurants/street vendors do you recommend? (seeking authentic non americanized places)
Do you recommend renting a car for a 4 night stay?
And, ANY advise, suggestions, or tips about Puerto Rico.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPS OUT. :)
Lodging?
Worth renting a car?
How much does the ferry cost to Culebra?
All questions are listed above.
Thanks again.
Reply to this We stayed in Condado and rented a car when we were there. Something you should know is that all street signs and traffic signs are in Spanish. I cant recall the names of the places we ate but if you want to eat traditional Puerto rican food you should have mofongo. mofongo is made of plantains and lots of garlic. And is as traditional as it get. You can drive from san juan to the east coast in 3 hours if you take the toll hi-way. There are 2 Hi-way's one is free and slow, the other has small tolls but fast. They both go in the same directions.
Sorry I dont know anything about the ferry to Culebra. You should try to get to Ponce if you can...
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Reply to this Good Evening Rendar!
The drive to Fajardo should only be 1 hour 1.5 hours. I traveled that route many many times.
And yes rent a car it is definitely worth it. the ferry to either Vieques or Culebra is only $2 per way...thats it. and it is a great ride!
But if you want to feel like in the authentic caribbean after going to culebra...head west to Rincon, Isabela, Aguadilla, Quebradillas...that region is completely different more more mountains, the beaches are different.
There are also great restaurants in this area...the region is called Porta del Sol.
