Peru isn't just MP, bowler hats and the Incas...

Hello
I've been reading through the Peru blogs on here and have a few comments I'd like to make if I may.
Most of the blogs - as infomative and intresting as they are - tend to cover the same ground; the Inca Trail, MP, Nasca, reed islands etc. Now please don't get me wrong as anyone coming to Peru should see these sights and I know if your on a limited time scale then you may not be able to fit much more in.
But for those of you who do have the time do yourself a favour and stop off in the north of the country and not just view it from the bus as you make you way to Ecuador (or Lima). You can swap the llamas for donkeys; cuy for cabrito; chica for pisco and bowler hats for straw sombreros. For MP theres Chan Chan or Kuelap; for the Sacred Valley there the Pyramids of Tucame; Cajamarca, whichever way you spell it, is a beautiful and intresting city and the place to spend Carnival in Peru or or the beachthere Huanchaco, Mancora or Punta Sal. Nearly forgot the Senor Sipan Museum here in Lambayeque and the Sican Museum down the road in Ferrenafe.
I better stop there as I sound like a tour guide! I'm not I just live here. Take care and whatever you do or wherever you go be safe and good luck. Reply to this

You're right, rubble.
MP covers 90 percent of the questions here, and everybody keeps on repeating the same questions,
without reading previous posts. Peruvian tourism itself is gaining from MP, but at the same time is a hostage of MP.
There are very few people that ask for Tingo Maria or Pucallpa, Chiclayo or Trujillo, Chacha or Tarapoto.
Maybe I was lucky to travel those other places, since I had been to MP and Titicaca first. Even after six long trips to Peru I feel that there is much more to see.
People usually want to see as much as they can in very few days; with Peru it is not possible to cover it
all. Instead of normal backpacking they rush around the country like crazy, not noticing many things.
North of Peru is fantastic, and I share your opinion.
