HI there,

I'm planning a RTW trip and am starting in Asia, the final part of my trip is a little sketchy - I know that I will fly into san diago and want to take in the galapagos islands and Macchu Pichu, from there I'll have to travel to Mexico to my final destination where I'll fly Home to Ireland, and am hoping that somebody can help me with a few questions:

1) I'm travelling alone and so want to know how safe it is? That's the multi million dollar question.
2)What's the best method of transport for me to get to Lima, do I just plane it or travell on the road - if it is safer but more expensive to do one or the other please advise.
3) I would love to do some jungle/ outdoor activities, what would ye recommend on route?
4) I've heard ot's not that expensive but am concerned seeing it is the last leg of my trip that I'll not be able to afford it!!!LOL How much for that itenery are we talking in terms of say 2-3 months travelling this area. €€ or $$ will give me an idea.
5)Any other tips are welcome, am really gathering info at the mo'

Thanks guys Reply to this

From Ecuador there is several flights to Lima, and the flight to Cuzco.. you have stay at least 01 weeek because it has so many places to visit and lot of of people to meet. Reply to this

I got a Lima to Cusco flight for $100 and that apparently was quite expensive because it was high season! So you should be able to do that leg of the journey quite cheaply as the other alternative is a Lima to Cusco bus which can take up to 30 hours! I found buses in Ecuador and Peru perfectly safe and very cheap - time is the main problem unless it's straight down the Panamericana. A rough estimate for buses from Quito to Lima is 30 hours (including border crossings) so if it's reasonably cheap I'd say flying is the better option. Reply to this

That's great, am really excited to get going.

Pitern, what else would you suggest to schedule in when there, I know very little about Sth America at the mo, I'm very interested in getting to know the county and the history and visiting ruins and seeing lots of wildlife and nature.... Reply to this

The buses are fine in peru and alot cheaper than flying you can sleep on them so if you get a night bus its really convinient, In cusco if your planing to do the Inca trail make sure you book in advance, prob around three months to get the dates you want, i went with SAS and they were very good, you will see alot of ruins doing the inca trail. You can fly from Lima to Iquitos which is in the very north east or manu National Park in the South East which is close to cusco. One thing i did was go to chachapoyas in the Amazonas regin of Peru, its off the main tourist track quite high and with cloud forest near by, there are some ruins called Kulap whcih are pretty amazing and when i went there deserted and overgrown so it feels like actural ruins, theres aslo a 3/4 day easy treck called the belan circuit which takes you through some great scenary. Also in peru try and make it to Huaraz, High in the mountains has great views where you can experiance some mountain trecks.
Hope this helps. Reply to this
