Trip of a lifetime planned ending with two week in costa rica, any ideas to make it the best ever

Hi guys, we will be arriving in costa rica on Aug 8th after 3wks in peru and have decided to go it alone, no planned tours, accomodation etc. We've got two weeks to spend there and are looking fro some outdoor adventure such as white water rafting, zip lining, jungle treks and also a bit of chilling around some beach areas such as manuel antonio. We want to be roughing it in hostels and stay away from the ameicanised areas and sample what costa rica is really like. Any ideas from experienced travllers as to where to go after a day or two in san jose. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys !

I've been in Costa Rica this summer ! 😊

Manuelo Antonio is a very good idea, I've been to that national park and it's really amazing. A small beach I REALLY liked and isn't very touristic is a beach called " Samara ", on the pacific coast.

You should defenitly go see also the Volcano Arenal.

Emmhh besides this there is also Montezuma who is really fine and isn't too much of a touristic thing.

I've spend a couple of days in Heredia, but I didn't liked it much so I don't recommend it to you.

Have a nice trip! Reply to this

I spent last Dec backpacking through Costa Rica. If your staying in a Hostel I recommend staying at the Costa Rica’s backpackers resort in La Fortuna when you visit the Arenal Volcano. They have a pool with a small little swim up bar. The bar only serves canned beers and rum and cokes lol. There is a wonderful restaurant behind the hostel called chelas and they have the best nachos ever!! La Fortuna offers a lot of excursions for very cheap or at least it was one of the cheapest cities we stayed in. The hot springs are a must!! There are two in la fortuna try both if you can. One of the hot springs has swim up bars. You can book a tour through the hostel that includes hiking up to the volcano, visiting the hot springs and dinner for about $35-$40 USD. Below is the link to the hostel.

A friend of mine runs a custom tour business - puts together family vacation packages. This guy loves white water rafting, zip lines, horseback riding etc.. His name is Tom (Tico Tom). His site can be found at Costa Rica Family Vacations. He's a great guy and a lot of fun. Even if you can't plan a tour with him I am sure he'd be happy to give you some advice about the best places to visit. Reply to this
