Looking for suggestions on local must see/do/eat places

Down Under for the first and probably only time. Would love to hear any suggestions on less touristy places that can't be missed while in the neighborhood.

Hey there!
My boyfriend and I are heading down under for the first and probably only time. We'd love to hear any suggestions on less touristy places that can't be missed while in the neighborhood. You know, that local restaurant with to die for food and ambiance...the dive pub with the coldest beer and friendly people...any activities or sights that you've had great experiences with.

A suggestion for a website with concert listings would be great, too!

We'll be in Auckland November 27-29
Tutukaka November 30-December 2
Rotorua December 3-4
Wellington December 5-6
Interislander Ferry December 7
Kaikoura December 7-9
Christchurch December 9-11
Queenstown December 11-14
Fox Glacier December 14-15
Christchurch December 16

Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions you may have for us!

Hi Suzanne,

Of the places you've listed I'd suggest
Auckland - sunrise,or anytime, from top of Mt Eden (walkable from city centre), One Tree Hill/Cornwall Park
Wellington - ride the cable car
Kaikoura - go dolphin/whale watching
Queenstown - good place for adventure sports if you're interested

Shame you don't have waaay more time ;-)

For concert listings try; nzlive.com

Hi Suzanne

I lived in Dunedin, so I can tell you where to go there.
To go to the restaurant: the Hungry frenchman is good, on the octagon in the town center.
For a drink, I used to go to the Ra Bar (on the octagon too)

You can visit the Speight's factory (you get to try different biers at the end of the visit).
The Cadbury chocolate factory (if you wanna get sick only 😉 )

Hare Hill Horse Treks, a great horse place if you wanna go for a ride (awesome views, nice people and nice horses) Reply to this
