16 years ago, September 8th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #19097
hey. we are off travelling to south america bout july 08 for roughly 6 weeks and need some advice.
we thnking about spending a couple of weeks in costa rica to start with maybe chilling on a beach whilst also do some adventure activities such as learning to scuba dive, white water rafting etc before moving down to peru. where we intend to carry on for about 3 weeks on a seperate tour that we have in mind. Our question is this, is costa rica a good place to start out on this type of tour? Has anyon else got any othere suggestions that may help. We are on a bit of a budget, but the places we want to go to we want to meet other like minded travellers.
cheers

Hi - costa rica is very beautiful and theres lots to see. But its expensive compared to other countries! Also you will be in the green season in July which is the nice name for the rainy season! You usually get rain in the afternoons, but sometimes you can get a few days of sunshine at a time. Bearing in mind the rain you might not want to learn to scuba there as the visibility is a bit hit and miss.
There are other cheaper central american countries that have it all too but for cheaper travels. also we didn´t meet too many travellers as such there .... lots of people on a weeks holiday tho
I enjoyed CR but I´m not sure I would rush back. Since then we have been travelling through South America and found it much cheaper, friendlier, and loads of travellers. If you do end up going to CR email me and I can tell you some good places to stay, and some dos and do nots re trips.
Hope that helps! Reply to this
