I'm off to South America at the end of August and was wondering how much money i should budget for...

I'll be travelling solo and arrriving in Santiago, Chile working my way around clockwise stopping in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador (skipping Columbia), Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina and then finally back to Santiago, Chile from where i fly to New Zealand. I plan to do all this in about 4-5 months which i know is going to be a bit of a rush.

I'm going to staying mostly in hostels but maybe a cheap hotel 1 or 2 nights a week. I'll be doing the odd 4 /5 day tour now and again and i'll be travelling mostly by bus.

Any idea of how much i should budget for my entire trip and roughly how much i should expect to spend on average in each country, including travel, tours etc.

Any tips / advice welcome

cheers

Hi not really got any advice (why the hell am I writing then) but love sharing the joy of travelling. We're leaving in Sept starting in Venezuela, Columbia (we can't afford the flight over it and it's actually supposed to be amazing) Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina then Brazil over 4 months so it sounds like we're doing pretty similar trips. Don't forget to book your inca trail if your doing it (shame on you if your not- sorry don't want to sound to harsh) as we already have ours booked and are going at the end of Novemeber. Apparently it's good to do it around the full mood for the last walk (before sunrise) to Maccu Picchu.
Hope you enjoy. Reply to this

You're doing the same trip as me but in the opposite direction. Maybe we'll cross paths in Ecuador! Reply to this
