we are (2) planning to travel around south america and want to hire a car with driver as a guide too. Is that possible?
what will be the cost in peru, bolivia, argentina ,chile ? Travelling by public buses is not an option for us as we carry more than $60,000 worth of photographic and video equipments and we want to take our time shootings.

A car with a driver is possible in all the countries you mention. In Chile it can cost anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars a day, but that is for a day or two day trip. If you were using someone for several days it could work out for less. Even cheaper would be to hire a car and drive yourself. Here, at least, the roads are good and it is safe. With a driver, you are going to have to pay for his food and lodging and also find someone whose wife will let him go off for days at a time! If you don't want to do that, then most of the places you stay can find you someone local. Reply to this

No, you can't. And drop off anywhere other than where you started will cost a lot. You can do price comparisons: driver/car vs rental when you arrive if you want. It depends on whether you are going to cover one part of the country or are hoping to go long distances. If you plonked the top end of Chile in Lisbon, the bottom would reach Moscow. Reply to this
