Hello there!

Have you heard of the "ABC Islands" = Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao? They are located on the coast of Venezuela, on the left of Los Roques. Fantastic places to dive and not so expensive...

Yes, Galapagos is expensive... But if you are a scuba/nature lover, you must go. I have never been there - it's probably my next trip - but everyone I know that has says that it's unbelievable! There are many great journals here at travelblog about it, look for them...

Well it will all depend on how much time you have and your budget!

Let me know if I can help you with anything else...

Greets, Ana

Los roques is great for diving in venezuela.

In Colombia San Andres is excellent, along with Providencia.

The Galapagos is expensive but worth it.

In Argentina I'm not aware of any decent diving.

You might also consider places such as Belize and Honduras (eg Roatan) Reply to this

Hi Anna,

I haven't been there - yet. Someday for sure! Diving is a passion.

I have some friends who have been there - I've e-mailed them and will let you know when I get an answer.

I forgot to mention San Andres, Colombia - thanks craig14.

Do you plan to come to Brazil too? Reply to this

That would be great! Thanks!
I am not sure about Brazil, is that a country that you would recommend?
How´s the diving there? And do you know what is a reasoneble budget for food and a place to stay/ day? Is it like the rest of South america or is it more like argentina, a bit more expensive? Reply to this

Well... I'm brazilian and I live here, so I might be a little unparcial 😊 Brazil is huge and has many places worth to be seen. I wouldn't skip it.

The highlights diving spots here are: Bonito, Abrolhos and Fernando de Noronha.
Bonito is near Pantanal and it's good if you like cave diving.
Abrollhos is an archipelago and you'd have to stay in a boat. Great for seeing wales and big variety of marine life.
Fernando de Noronha is so far my favourite place is the world 😊. It's an archipelago in the NE of Brazil and there's the main island where you have many pousadas. Great for seeing dolphins, big variety of marine life, incredible landscape.

As to the budget... Well some people say it's like the rest of SA... Some say it's a bit more expensive... I think it depends on where you going. The NE is cheaper than SE (Rio, Sao Paulo) for example.

Here in Rio you can have a dormitory room in a hostel in Copacabana for 25 Reais/12 USD a day (1USD = 2 Reais).

Still waiting for my friends answer... Reply to this
