I want to go to Europe
17 years ago, April 17th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #13005
Hi. I'm 16, and this summer I’m pretty sure I’m doing a 6 week summer exchange program. I know I want to go to Europe, but I’m not sure what country to go to. I have to have 3 choices, and these are the countries I have to choose from...

Sweden
Spain
Poland
Denmark
Brazil
Estonia
Finland
Portugal
Slovakia
Norway
Czech Rep
Germany
Italy
Romania

I know my 1st choice is going to be Italy, and I'm not sure about the 2nd or 3rd choice
I was thinking maybe Spain as a 2nd choice, then Poland or Sweden as 3rd

Can someone who has traveled to these countries give me some advice?
I'm a 16 year old girl, and I speak a little Spanish, and a little Italian (very little)
I want somewhere that I would have fun, and would give me a good experience

Thanks a lot!

It depends on your likes/dislikes, but if you're concerned about communication, then you might want to consider the Scandinavian countries. Many Scandinavians speak good English and you'll normally find it relatively easy to get by from a language point of view. I suggest you to visit the website travelervideos.com. It has world's largest travel video directory collection and should be a useful guide for you.
Best of luck.

Romania can be a little grim, (a lot of beggers)
czech republic, cheap, especially for taxis, food drink and hotels are also well priced
Italy and Germany are more expensive
Poland is good for any dental tratment you might want to have done, as is the Ukraine (although thats not on your list,) plus well worh visiting Auchwitz consentration camp, very sad but if you are there put a full day aside to look round
Spain is good is you like the holiday scene
Brazil's on ya list but you might be being a bit mis led if you've been told it's in Europe lol (only joking)
being 16 and female Just keep your wits about you where ever you go happy travelling Reply to this

Spain is definitely a MUST, my sister lives there, and in summer, it's not only hot, but the nightlife is what makes the city so amazing. During day people aren't that active, since it's sometimes 40 degrees C, but the nights never end.

Germany is also really nice, since I've lived there, if you don't mind being in a country where you don't understand the language, then Berlin or Munich are also really nice, nightlife is also fun fun fun, but Paris is also really amazing, I wouldn't be able to choose, too much goodness in europe, lol.
