I have 6 hours in Rio to get as much touristy stuff done before I head away on a tour of Patagonia.

Does anyone have advice on what the best things I should do are. I want to see the amazing views of the beaches and general toursity stuff but as stated have extremely ltd time.

Fogbert, you're likely to be arriving at GIG - Galeão Int'l Airport, right? So, if I were you I'd leave my bags at the Lockers, take the bus (there is an air-conditioned one called "Frescao"), get off downtown at a square called (Cinelandia) to see the Opera House and a couple of museums; then, take the subway to Largo do Machado and from there the bus to Cosme Velho (if you're willing to visit Corocovado). If you want to go to Sugar Loaf you can take bus 107 or the subway to Botafogo and fthen a bus to Urca: 511 or 512. There is a bus stop in front of the Praia Shopping Mall. Make sure which bus is better, since one of them goes all the way to Gavea, Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, and then back to Urca. If you're willing to see the beaches, take the Frescao ao GIG all the way to Barra da Tijuca (Alvorada). Good luck and enjoy your stay here. Reply to this
