Hi,

I will be in prague for 3 days for some business discussions. I will be busy during the two days but I will have the afternoons for myself to visit the city and go here and there. I will also have one complete day to go around the city and visit where ever I want.

Where do you suggest me to visit? I am mostly interested in natural sights and historical sights. I will stay around o2 arena for the whole time.

Thank you Reply to this

Hey hey,

Well just wandering around the city will take in a full day.. I suggest doing a tour maybe in the morning and the places that interest you go back and check out. We were in Prague last week for a few days and did a tour with New Europe Free Tours (check out website).. It went for around three hours and is a tipping thing, how much you think it is worth you tip. I think it started at 11am or 2pm (early is better to avoid the massive crowd in the afternoon).

Gee it is hard to think of nice places since around every corner you will see something magical in this city. I really enjoyed walking along the river (on the castle side) and geting a view back across to the old town.

Hey Sarah,

The well-visited historical sites in the centre will take you half a day to a day to see them all. You can walk from the castle, through Malá Strana, through Old Town (past the astrological clock) and then up to Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky) and the "powder gate" in about 30 minutes without stopping, so even stopping to see things you won't see too much of your time go. You can also check out Vyšehrad, which is Prague's second, lesser known historic walled fortress besides the castle, you get fantastic views of the city and personally I think the lack of massive crowds makes it more enjoyable than hanging around Prague Castle for too long. Another place to visit is Petřín, which you can't really miss, it's a big hill on the west side of the river with something vaguely resembling the Eiffel tower on top. You can climb that, and there's also a planetarium, hall of mirrors, labyrinth, secret garden and a nice green open space.

If you manage to do all of this and still have enough time in your free day, go and explore the north-west of the city (towards the airport). There you have a massive national reserve called Divoká Šárka (situated next to a tram terminus of the same name) which is basically a huge wooded gorge full of interesting wildlife, and it's really beautiful, one of the most popular hiking spots inside Prague. Then take bus 179 from Divoká Šárka (or tram 22 from the centre) to the stop Vypich and you're next to a game reserve and summer palace called Hvězda, which is basically an enclosed area of woodland with a well-kept summer palace in the centre (now used as a museum of the battle of Bílá Hora, an important part of Czech history).

You're a bit stuck for natural or historic sights around the O2 arena I'm afraid, but there is a nice park if you go over the little stream that runs through that area (search your hotel address on Google maps)

Hope this helps, ask me if you have any Qs

Hello Sarah 😊

Last time I was in Prague, the two things I liked most were
1. Hanging out at Charles Bridge. It is beautiful spot. I hung out there on both my visits to Prague, and will do the same next visit.
2. The museum of communism was very informative and well worth a visit.
