My new years resolution was to visit more of my home nation. Previously I have only visited small towns around north London and brief visits to Coventry and Glasgow.

And so I set myself the task of visiting 5 new UK cities/towns this year. If anyone can make some suggestions i'd be thankful.

Already on my list are:

Bristol

Cities

Manchester
Leeds
Bath
Newcastle
Liverpool
Oxford
Cambridge

Towns
Skipton - for the Yorkshire Dales national park
Keswick - for the Lake District
Berwick upon Tweed - for Northumbria and Lindesfarne
Some places along the Dorset/Devon/Cornwall coasts.

It's a great idea. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the UK. Try browsing the UK travelblogs. They show places that tourists often visit and are great for discovering places in your home country.

What about Brighton. I really liked it there. I had a hotel room with a sea view. And, if you like fairgrounds, there is always one there on the pier, at least I think it is always there.

The only downside is it is one of those places that would get expensive, because many would like it as much as I did. Maybe somebody can comment on that, who has been there recently.

I'd have to go for

Brighton
Oxford
Cambridge

and why not visit Stone Henge, I'd love to visit there one day although I've heard it's over rated. Reply to this

Oxford was great, had a great time..
Stow-on-the-wald was an interesting part of the UK with some nice walking tracks for a couple of days.
And the same places as the others have mentioned, maybe Cardiff? Reply to this
