hey lady!
I lived in Japan for 3 years and have been to Kyoto a couple times through out my time there. What exactly are you looking to do while your there? Reply to this

Awesome! I just want to experience Japan really...do some touristy stuff but also just shop around and explore. I'm actually thinking of flying into Tokyo first now and then making my way down to Kyoto later in the trip. I guess my real concern is transportation and not getting lost! Reply to this

Well, Tokyo is one of the best places to shop!

Most signs in Tokyo and Kyoto are in Japanese and English. The subways are bilingual, so you shouldn't have any problems getting around.

Big shopping areas in Tokyo are Harujuku, Roppongi, and aroud Shinjuku stations. Harujuku is the big street clothes and funky youth part of town. Roppongi has a bunch of great architecture and shopping as well. You'll have a blast, but beware your credit card burning. It's expensive to shop in Tokyo. Closet Child is a great second hand clothes store that has all kinds of crazy Tokyo fashion. It's a bit nicer on your wallet.

Kyoto is full of culture, so save a lot of your temples and shrines for the place that does it better than the rest of the country. Osaka is a great place to go shopping as well. Amerikamura is really fun and is full of small clothing shops. Reply to this

Thanks for the info! Yes, shopping in Tokyo is going to be crazy! I know that Japan is expensive and I'm not planning on spending a ridiculous amount of money. I'll have to check out Closet Child!

I'm looking forward to the fast paced feel of Tokyo and then hopefully a more serene feel in Kyoto. I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm going to Osaka yet but I probably will. 😊 Reply to this

They have a lot of really good food in Osaka. Japanese Western food and crazy good Japanese food. I can give you a whole rundown and tell you what Japanese food to try while your there.

Are you planning on traveling by yourself or with somebody else? Reply to this

I did hear that Osaka has really great food. That may be reason enough to visit!

I'm traveling by myself. I just bought my tickets tonight and I'm getting very nervous and excited! Reply to this
