I am looking to get from Lima to Mancora to hangout on the beach for a few days. Because of my timetable I wont have time to take a train or bus so does anyone know where the best place to fly into would be?

You can take an overnight bus - is that any good?

Another option might be to go to Huanchaco - if it's the right time of year - as that's quite a cool place and there's good surfing! Reply to this

Hola, you can fly with Lan Peru to Piura then you have to take a bus tu Mancora, it´s about 6 hours and it costs about 10 soles (sorry I can´t remember it exactly) and if you´re looking for a cheap place to stay you can try Hotel Palmeras it´s about 5 blocks from the "center" and if you wanna drink sth and get some fun you should try Hula Hula Hut, Steph and the crew are amazing ppl (say hello from me)... ah! don´t forget the Ceviche at the beach!

Enjoy it!

This is good stuff, thanks for all of the good info guys!! How long does the overnight bus take, we may have a few extra days now and I figure that could save quite a bit of money. Any particular bus company that is more comfortable to travel overnight on?

THanks

from lima to huanchaco it takes 8 hours, to mancora about 21 hours, flights run around $120 return, if you're looking for good surf check us out www.bravosurfcamp.com or come to Punta Hermosa for a few days, surfer town 45km south of Lima. Reply to this

I took an overnight bus from Mancora to Lima, I believe it took about 14 hours, on Cruz del Sur.

Please make sure you take Cruz del Sur or another upscale bus line, as the buses in Peru are notorious for theft - I found Cruz del Sur quite secure, they take everyone's name, ID # and even videotape each person in their seat. As well, luggage tags are provided. Doesn't completely eliminate the threat of theft, but helps deter it a bit. And as well, there were movies, blankets, bathroom on board, and meals. Very good service. Reply to this

Thanks Kat,
I have been thinking about whether I should take a more upscale(expensive) bus or save the money for more fun down the road... Your email has helped me make that decision, Ill be looking into Cruz del Sur today.

Thanks Again! Reply to this

No problem Ryan. If you're looking for a fun place to stay, I stayed at Loki Hostel in Mancora, and it was great. Pool, right on the beach, and about $8 usd a night. Enjoy Mancora! Reply to this
