I think I only have time and money for one choice. The chalalan lodge in Madidi national park (is it worth it?) vs. iquitos and up the amazon river in peru. Please let me know your recommendations.

Both of them are good options. Remember that Iquitos is on the left bank of the Amazon river. You only have to choose a good tour operator and never pay attention people along the street or drivers (usually they gain a commision for every tourist they refers to a tour company and usually the worst and most desesperate tour companies pay live in this way).

You can contact iPeru, the Peruvian National Tourism Office, they give reliable information about all over Peru (registered tour companies and accommodation as well as their record of complaints, routes, destinations and so on) to <snip>, <snip> or they 24-hour line (+51 1) 574-8000. The official website of Peru is www.peru.travel

I hope you had a great time in South America.
