First time traveller Brisbane, should I get a BRISBANE STARTER PACK - £180.00 ( 2 NIGHTS AND 3 DAYS) for my arrival in Oz??
Are starter packs worth the money? This will be my first time travelling by myself, I plan to be away for about 10 months, and I was wondering if it is best to try organise my own transfers etc from airport and accommodation when I forst arrive or get a starter pack? They seem quite convenient.
Reply to this Sound like a rip-off, but I guess it depends on what the accommodation standard is and if the package includes anything else.
Transfers from Brisbane Airport to the city is easy, so long as you don't arrive very late at night. Two affordable options:
1. There is the Airtrain - http://www.airtrain.com.au/ check the timetables to see if they run a time suitable for your flight.
2. There is a transfer bus as well that you can book or just buy a ticket at the airport - again check the schedule for your flight. http://www.coachtrans.com.au/ They take you right to the door if you are staying in the city.
Both these options cost about the same - about $15AU off the top of my head.
There are backpacker hostels in the city and in surrounding suburbs. The backpacker joints in the suburbs usually have shuttle bus from Roma Street Station (Airtrain and bus both go there, it is in the city). You can book a lot of them online. I have stayed at Brisbane Backpackers and Palace (now called BASE), they both do the job.
Reply to this The trains from the Brisbane airport only operate around the 0600-2000 time frame and stop for some reason, the Coachtrans option is more flexible for late night arrivals.
If you give some more details of the starter packs - then it would be easier to comment if they are worth the money.
