Hi guys

Myself and gf are flying into Sydney on 9/5/10 and travelling up the East Coast for 2 months.

Just wanted to know how long to stay in Sydney really was thinking 4-5 days staying at Wake Up Hostel.

Yeah that's fine, we stayed 2 weeks but with our 1 y.o. daughter so it kind of took away 50% of our travel time :-)

I stayed there for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year and for me that was a nice time to stay. Plenty of time to see and do everything, visit all the beaches, a few nights out, etc. I stayed at Wake Up for the whole time and to be honest, wouldn't stay there again. If you are looking to meet new people, then Wake Up is not really the place to be. Whilst it is the largest and modt modern hostel, i found it very informal and hard to meet new people. I had spend 3 months travelling down the east coast and had been used to staying in friendly and home-like hostels. I had also been travelling at that point for about 10 months and was very used to meeting new people and being in new environments. Reply to this

Have been to Sydney many times and think that 4-5 days is fine - from the city centre it is easy to access Manly (via a ferry), Bondi (bus), and you could even get to the Blue Mountains if you wish, but it will be a long day. In the city centre, the Rocks are essential for a wander and of course no visit is complete without a visit to the Opera House, which is thankfully not a long walk from the Rocks. Reply to this
